The Triumph of Art

From May 2024

Celebration. Commemoration. Demonstration

'The Triumph of Art' by artist Jeremy Deller  is a nationwide performance that takes us towards and finally rounds off our Bicentenary celebrations. It marks how festivals are part and parcel of art, culture and civic life, and that art and artists can be catalysts of collaboration and joy.

This summer will see new participatory public events in all four Nations produced in partnership with The Box, Plymouth, Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design in Dundee, Mostyn Gallery Llandudno and The Playhouse in Derry-Londonderry.

For our final event in July, we take over Trafalgar Square for a free, family friendly celebration with contributions from all four nations.

You can expect processions, performances, parades and parties that bring the ÁùºÏ²ÊÔ¤²â Collection to life and round off our Bicentenary year.

To round off the Gallery’s Bicentenary and look ahead to the next 100 years we take over Trafalgar Square for a free family friendly final event with contributions from all four nations.

'The Triumph of Art' is a celebration of art in all its forms and its role in society. Starting with a Bacchanalian procession, you will experience live music, performances, making workshops, opportunities to meet familiar faces from the Collection and a big birthday tea party.
