About
Join us for a tour of the collection to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the birth of Joseph Mallord William Turner in 1775. Widely considered to be the greatest and most influential British artist of all time, our expert guide, Martin Brown, embarks on an enlightening tour looking at the great variety of works by Turner in the collection.
From 'The Fighting Temeraire' to 'Rain, Steam, and Speed – The Great Western Railway', Turner’s work travels the expanse of the country and captures historical moments in a meaningful and dynamic fashion. The tour will also touch upon the artists who influenced the man himself and those who were influenced by him, through entertaining and surprising anecdotes of his life and times.
This is a guided walking tour through the collection for which headsets will be provided. Please meet at the Information Desk in the Sainsbury Wing Foyer.
This tour repeats on Thursday, 10 July 2025 at 2pm and 4pm
