About
Sienese art of the 14th century is known for its expressive and decorative qualities. Artists used glowing pigments to create sumptuous fabrics and golden lines and patterns to create altarpieces that would have helped their viewers feel they were in the presence of the divine. This tour of the Gallery will find links between these visual qualities and contemporary and subsequent painting.
Please note that the tour complements but does not take in or include entry to Siena: The Rise of Painting, 1300‒1350 itself.
This is a guided walking tour through the collection for which headsets will be provided. Please meet at the Information Desk in the Sainsbury Wing Foyer.
