Our structure
The Gallery has charitable status, and is a non-departmental public body sponsored by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS). The Director acts as the Accounting Officer.
The Gallery is governed by a Board of Trustees, who hold the pictures in trust on behalf of the nation.
Under the overall leadership of the Director, the Gallery’s employees work across the following structure:
- Collections and Research: Art Handling, Conservation, Curatorial, Framing, Photography and Imaging, Registrars, Research Centre and Scientific.
- Chief Operating Officer: Building and Facilities, Finance, Human Resources and Operations.
- Development: Corporate & Sponsorship, Development Operations, Events, Major Gifts and Legacies, Patrons and Principal Gifts.
- Digital Innovation and Technology: Audio Visual, Data & Insight, Digital Services and Information Services and Project Management
- Public Engagement: Audio Visual, Creative, Digital Services, Exhibitions, Learning and National Programmes, Marketing and Insight and Press and Public Relations.
The Gallery currently employs approximately 350 full-time and part-time employees. A significant portion of the Gallery’s services is handled by a range of commercial partners, who provide in-house and front-of-house services. The Gallery is supported by the activities of the ÁùºÏ²ÊÔ¤²â Global Ltd, a commercial entity which contributes financially to the ÁùºÏ²ÊÔ¤²â. It is owned and operated by the ÁùºÏ²ÊÔ¤²â Trust, an independent Trust which generates and manages additional charitable contributions to the ÁùºÏ²ÊÔ¤²â .
